The Association has been informed today that retired Assistant Deputy Warden Michael Shannon passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Michael was 52-years of age, and passed away from a non-combat related heart attack while in the service of our country during Operation Enduring Freedom, while stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan. Michael was in Afghanistan in his capacity as a Sergeant -1st Class with the U.S. Army (Europe) / Headquarters - 7thArmy. Michael retired from Department of Correction in 2001. Michael resided with his family in Canadensis, Pennsylvania.
