March of Dimes News Interview by Ralph E. Smith April 26, 2009 by Ralph E. Smith: Thousands of people came out this year to support the March of Dimes in New York City. The second day of 85 degrees and great sun made this walk a real work out. Channel 2 TV and the New York City Department of Correction Honor Guard Detail opened the ceremony. Our Guardian Chronicle News Camera moved around the people talking with every day great New Yorkers. One lady I spoke with said she walked when it was 18 miles. The Guardian Chronicle wishes Joe Carbone- from the New York City Department of Correction Honor Guard Detail a wonderful second career and retirement. March of Dimes is Joe Carbone's last day working for the NYCD. For years, Officer Carbone has been the man behind the action making sure that the NYCD Ceremonies are New York's Boldest Productions: Graduations to Funerals,. You name it, Joe was the 24 hour go to Man. The goal of helping the babies was answered by thousands of people who came out and walked. Even in this rough time around the world, people still take time to help the babies.
